Campus Crime

Suspicious person

On Sept. 24 at 13:52 p.m., officers were called to 161 University Ave. W regarding a suspicious, older white male.

Upon arrival, officers located an older male in the first floor student lounge. The male was sitting in a chair, watching television. The man appeared to be in his late 40s, wearing a tight black tank top and green camo baggy shorts with a painter’s style hat backwards, thick silver chain around his neck, and several bracelets on both wrists. The male was in possession of two black travel bags.  The male has a butterfly tattoo on his right bicep and three feathers on his left bicep.

Officers identified this male and determined he was not associated with the university and had been at the residence to do his laundry. He was escorted from the building and has been banned from all UW property.

Students are reminded to be aware of who is in attendance at your residences and to report those who look out of place to police.

Theft suspect

At 11:25 p.m. on Sept. 28, UWPS officers observed a suspicious male walking around the bike rack outside the Quantum Nano Centre. Further investigation led to this male being arrested for attempted theft. He was subsequently found in possession of bolt cutters. This male was released unconditionally, but was prohibited from all UW property.  He is considered a suspect in the theft of bikes and bike parts from campus. The investigation into his activities continues.
