Hey readers! Here's a few highlights of the first Winter 2015 issue of Imprint. As always, you can find Imprint issues across campus, or check us out at http://www.uwimprint.ca.

A UW student will wake up $60,000 richer today — Because sometimes good things do happen to people (just probably not to you), one UW student has won over $60,000 in prizes as part of the Student Life Network's “Canada's Luckiest Student” contest. The prizes for the contest include $20,000 to finance post-sec tuition, free textbooks and groceries, and even a trip to Peru and Europe for two. The winning student's name won't be released for a few more weeks, so it's possible you're much luckier than you think! But again, probably not.

Maxwell’s looks to offer music lovers a versatile experience — Maxwell's Concerts and Events new venue has opened on University Avenue, giving students a new way to get their midweek musical fix. In addition to the musical acts coming to Maxwell's that have yet to be announced, the venue also offers karaoke nights every Tuesday, where you can perform songs alongside the Maxwell musicians, house band performances on Wednesdays, and “Boots N' Beers” every Thursday (for the more country-inclined).

UW professor receives funding to find out why your boss is such a grump — Douglas Brown, a professor at UW, has received over $246,000 from the Government of Canada to aid in his research on terrible bosses. Brown is studying how unhappiness can be caused by poor managers (which contributes to around one-third of reports of workplace unhappiness), and just what makes bad bosses so bad. He hopes his research will be able to alleviate workplace stress by facilitating a more nurturing workplace. It is unknown how his research will impact the Horrible Bosses movie franchise.

I am the captain now — Waterloo football has gained a new coach and a familiar face, as former Warriors football captain Chris Bertoia has taken the position of head coach. In 1997 and 1999, Bertoia led the Warriors to Yates Cup victory, and hopefully his history of winning will rub off on the current men's football team.
