Metrolinx adds GO bus express routes as students return to Waterloo region
| August 27, 2025
Metrolinx will start service changes on Aug. 30 aimed to help commuters to and from the Waterloo region. The GO transit site states that seasonal post-secondary bus trips are returning for back to school. With new GO bus routes and the previously established routes, there will be more bus trip options during busy times as students are back in school.
For example, the new express bus route 25A will go from Square One to the UW. The bus routes 30A and 30E will go from Waterloo to Bramalea Express. Routes like the 25C, that goes from UW to Square One continue to run with the additionally added routes.
While schedules and routes are being adjusted to better accommodate students for the upcoming term, it would be important to plan ahead of a trip and check schedules online. The GO Transit site also states, “We’re adjusting schedules to better reflect actual travel times and to improve connections to trains, with some buses departing up to 10 minutes earlier or later.” The Kitchener GO train line will also experience similar schedule adjustments.
GO bus stops are typically central to the UW station, with many routes also making stops at Wilfrid Laurier University. An alternative travel option for the fall include the FedBus service offered by WUSA, with routes to and from the GTA as well as London. There are also other bus services including FlixBus or carpooling services like ‘Poparide.’
